Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahi

Dil Na Umeed Tou Nahi highlighted the vulnerabilities of communities and individuals trapped in an endless cycle of poverty and ignorance, creating conditions for their exploitation by unscrupulous individuals. The drama courageously highlights taboo subjects of sexual exploitation with its sensitive portrayal of child trafficking for prostitution.

Allah Rakhi and Jimmy are born into families with few resources, access to substandard educational facilities, and no family connections” that could shelter them from their hardships and enable them to break free from the cycle of poverty.

The show also pays attention to how society’s attitudes and treatment of young girls and women push them further deep into a life of destitution and hardship. From the characters of Allah Rakhi who was forced to become a child bride to Naseem Zehra who falls prey to a human trafficking ring simply because she couldn’t get the support of her father to play cricket and decided to run away from home to realize her dreams.

The drama series was very well received by the audience and critics, especially for the raw portrayal of the cruel and dehumanizing practices of human trafficking and slavery in Pakistan. Like Kashf Foundation’s previous drama serials, the story concluded on a positive note, giving hope and a solution-oriented approach.

The show won Best Drama Award, Best Child Actor (Male), Best Child Actor (Female), and Best OST Award at the Fuchsia Magazine Awards in 2022. The show stared Yumna Zaidi, Wahaj Ali, Fajar Khan, Yusra Rizvi, Nauman Ijaz, Omair Rana, Samiya Mumtaz, and Noor ul Hassan as the main characters.
